What Does the GPS Option Do?
The GPS option in OIS is not intended for real-time user tracking.
Its purpose is to use the device’s location services to capture the geographic location (coordinates) from which each transaction (order or invoice) was created or submitted.
What Information Is Captured?
When a user creates and/or submits an order or invoice through the application, the device captures:
GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude)
The transaction submission timestamp (based on the transaction record)
This makes it possible to validate whether the transaction was created/submitted at the expected location (for example, the customer’s store) or from a different location.
Verification Process in OIS Central
After transactions have been submitted, a comparison report can be generated in OIS Central.
This report compares:
The customer’s registered address in the system (reference location)
vs.
The GPS coordinates captured by the device at the time the order or invoice was submitted
How to Interpret the Report Results
The report helps classify submissions as follows:
1) Positive Data (Matching)
The GPS coordinates from which the transaction was submitted match (within an acceptable range) the customer’s registered address.
Interpretation: The transaction was most likely created/submitted at the customer’s location.
2) Negative Data (Non-Matching)
The GPS coordinates are significantly distant from the registered customer address.
Interpretation: The transaction was likely created/submitted from a different location, for example:
A park
A residence
Another business location
Any place other than the customer’s registered reference point
Purpose of the Tool
The primary objective is to confirm through reporting whether transactions are being submitted:
From the customer’s registered reference location, or
From a different location
In summary, this feature is designed for audit and transaction location control purposes, not for live user location tracking.
Usage Recommendations
Ensure the customer’s address is correctly recorded and up to date in the system.
If “negative data” appears, verify:
Whether the customer’s address is correct
Whether the transaction was created/submitted outside the expected location
Whether there were GPS signal issues on the device at the time of submission
